IRRI Rice Husk Furnace
The IRRI semi-automatic downdraft rice husk furnace is a new furnace that has cleaner combustion, more stable temperature, automatic feeding and ash removal and reduced fly ash compared to existing small scale furnace designs. It has been tested extensively in Vietnam and in 2011-2012 the furnace was commercialized in the Philippines with around 6 units installed until December 2012 and more under construction.
The individuals or companies in the lists below either participated in IRRI's training course on manufacturing the IRRI rice husk furnace conducted on September 24-27, 2012, or got technical assistance in producing a furnace. The training partipants were given drawings of the IRRI furnace prototype and should be able to produce a furnace according to the drawings.
Disclaimer: IRRI is not responsible for any modifications made by manufacturers and for the effect on the furnace performance.
In case you are not sure whether a furnace is constructed according to the IRRI design you can get in touch with IRRI's Postharvest Team at Postharvest@IRRI.org. Please note that any on-site assessment of a furnace done by IRRI staff would have to be charged to the client following IRRI's full cost recovery guidelines.
