  Module Overview

How do you manage your irrigation water in your ricefields? Do you flood your fields throughout the cropping season?

Alternate wetting and drying (AWD) allows you not to worry for not having much water in the ricefields. As discussed in module 3 lesson 5, you can still have the same amount of harvest you have even if you do not continuously flood your ricefields.Rice is a semi-aquatic plant. Because of this physiological features, the rice plant can adapt to varied hydrological conditions ranging from no standing water to continuous flooding culture.
